Quinn Fitzpatrick is an eclectic guitarist who draws upon folk, country, rock, blues, funk and jazz. He has played in several popular San Francisco bay area bands over the past decade. Great folks he has studied and/or played with include: Jim Campilongo (Norah Jones), Jude Gold (Jerry Garcia Band), Nina Gerber (Kate Wolf, Nancy Griffith), Johnny Harper, Julie Wolf (Bruce Coburn, Ani Difranco) and Dawn Richardson (4 Non Blondes). He recently relocated to Whidbey Island, Washington to focus on recording a CD and to promote his solo acoustic guitar instrumentals for soundtracks. Quinn’s fingerstyle pieces range from folk, blues and jazz to latin/bossa nova.

Described as a “poet of sound,” Quinn’s music covers a wide spectrum of emotions and styles.

Quinn taught private and group guitar lessons in the San Francisco bay area for 8 years.
In addition, he has been an instructor and Regional Director for Guitars in the Classroom (a non-profit organization that instructs teachers how to play guitar and bring music into the classroom). He has taught at both U.C. Berkeley and California State University East Bay.

Quinn has been teaching in the Puget Sound area for the past 2 years. He is currently a guitar instructor at Bayview High School in Langley and at Antioch University in Seattle. He also teaches guitar and drawing classes for adults and young people through South Whidbey, Shoreline and Coupeville recreation departments.

Nature inspires me most. I create Wildlife and Botanical art utilizing the mediums of graphite, watercolor, color pencil, gouache and photography. I graduated from University of Washington’s Natural Science Illustration program in June 2009. My specialties are wild cats, raptors and wild edible and medicinal plants of the Pacific Northwest.

Artist’s Statement

Seeking to be closer to nature, I left my long-time home in Berkeley, California and moved to Whidbey Island, WA in 2007.  Inspired by the surrounding beauty of water, earth and sky, I decided to focus on visual art. A passion for animals, plants, and the natural world led me to the Natural Science Illustration program at University of Washington in 2008. My love for endangered species such as the Cheetah and Tiger motivate me to create images that represent the power and beauty of such animals.

My intent is to create images that both represent the natural world and inspire in the viewer a reverence and deep understanding of our impact and connection to all beings on the planet.
